Emotional Intelligence is the form of Intelligence which is related to the emotional side of life, which deals with one’s ability to recognize and manage own emotions and also of others, to motivate oneself and control impulses and handle interpersonal relationships effectively.
Thereby, we can derive five components of Emotional Intelligence:

Emotions can improve intellectual performance, when emotions are recognized, acknowledged and guided constructively .Emotional Intelligence can be increased by increasing optimism and appreciation.
Emotinal Intelligence has lot of importance in the present corporate scenario. Global economic slowdown has dampened the employee morale to a large extent irrespective of the sector and region in the world. Employees across the globe are feeling highly insecure about their jobs and are very cautiously watching the moves of company management. Salary cuts, Layoffs, multi-tasking and venturing into totally unknown tasks have become the order of the day in most of the companies. Firms which are highly dependent on US outsourcing have rapidly cut their costs at all levels and consequently employee benefits too got affected.
